Every service is personalised, so final costs may vary depending on venue and individual choices. We are always happy to provide a no obligation quote.

*If you’re considering a Simple Farewell, it’s worth checking with your chosen venue that they’re comfortable having a coffin present. Most are happy to accommodate this, and we can help guide you through the conversation.

**Burial plot and interment fees are not included and paid directly to the cemetery.

Hi, I’m Matt.

After 20 years working in finance, the loss of a dear friend changed the direction of my life. In that moment, I realised I wanted to do work that truly mattered, work that supported people through one of life’s most difficult times and honoured each life in a meaningful, personal way.

I left the corporate world and retrained as a funeral director and celebrant here in Sydney. Today, I work closely with families to create thoughtful and heartfelt farewells that reflect the person being remembered.

While grief is very real, I believe a funeral can also be a space for comfort, connection and even moments of gentle lightness; the stories, music and memories that remind us of who someone truly was.

At Idyllic Funerals, my role is to guide you through the process with care and clarity. I take care of the practical details, help you navigate decisions, and work with you to shape a service that feels right for your family. Often it’s the small things; a favourite song, a personal story, or a meaningful detail, that make a farewell truly special.

From the very beginning, Matt and Leela approached every aspect of my mum’s farewell with genuine tenderness, dignity, and respect. Their attention to detail was extraordinary, and they went above and beyond to ensure that every one of Mum’s wishes, as well as those of our family, was honoured. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and every request was met with kindness, patience, and understanding.

What I appreciated most was how effortlessly they guided us through an otherwise overwhelming process. At a time when I was navigating immense grief, they took care of virtually everything, leaving very little for me to manage beyond the necessary legal formalities. Their organisation, communication, and thoughtful approach made an incredibly difficult experience feel seamless, allowing me the space to grieve and focus on saying goodbye to my mum.

They also offered an extensive range of beautiful and thoughtful options across every aspect of the funeral, including floral arrangements, catering, transport, caskets, and the finer personal touches that made Mum’s farewell truly special. Every detail was handled with such care, and I never once felt rushed, pressured, or limited in how we could honour her.

Above all, what stood out was the genuine compassion and reverence with which my mum was treated. She was never simply another person in their care; she was treated as someone deeply loved, whose life and final wishes mattered. That meant more to me than I can adequately express.

I will always be grateful to Matt, Leela, and the team at Idyllic Funerals for helping us give my beautiful mum the dignified, meaningful, and loving farewell she deserved. What made it wonderful was they were invested in honouring my father. They listened intently as we spoke of his life and the Eulogy’s.
